The end of Music Mondays - and this is OUR year!

Funny, but I noticed I barely get any comments on my Music Monday posts.  Not sure why that is but decided I am going to do away with that little themed posting day and if I happen to think of or find a song or something musical I want to share with you I will just do so as needed :) 

Anyway, today, I just thought I'd share real quick about how excited I am for it to finally be 2010!  Us 2010 brides know that it's been fun listening to people say that we're getting married 'next year' but now we have begun our wedding year!

Funny because my first day back at work in 2010 both my boss and a co-worker said to me "Did you have a good New Year's?  Are you looking forward to this year?  This is your year!  You're going to have some amazing things going on." 

I love that not only am I excited about the new year and all that it will bring as far as becoming a wife, family and making some big moves, but others around me are also excited and getting antsy for it.  On the 4th, a girlfriend sent me an instant message asking me what time our wedding was because she was filling in her calendar and wanted to get it on the date.  I ran into another g-friend at the grocery store the next day and she told me that she had our little Save the Date on her 2009 calendar for December and was ready to put our little sticker on our wedding date in her 2010 calendar.  (Yes, I sent them out about 8 to 9 months before the big day in 2009 and they are little stickers that our guests can put on their calendars or day planners to remind them about the wedding.  So they are now finally able to put them on their calendars!) 

So now that 2010 is officially upon us, bring on the calendars to put our stickers in!  Bring on the celebrations of showers and bachelor/bachelorette parties!  (In February and March)  Bring on the final three months of wedding planning and all the stress, anxiety, anticipation and excitement that it brings! 

I am so ready for 2010 and so excited our friends and family are, too!  What about you?  Have you had anyone bring up that your wedding year is finally upon you?

Seriously Saturdays: Why I strongly dislike the post office

I don't like to use the word 'hate'...hence the funny subject title. I mean, seriously...it's kind of a mean word.  But I have to say, I am so sick and tired of the USPS! Not only have I had them deliver mail to the wrong address, lose mail, have mail show up over 3 weeks after sent and have to deal with their ever increasing prices - BUT on top of it all, they charge you a ridiculous rate to send a simple card...like a Save the Date let's say!

I should have known to check on their site www.usps.com and find out how much they would charge to mail my save the date cards. But I figured, "Hey, they're only a 6x6 square card and weigh the same as most letters do." So I didn't bother to check the weight and size and all of my STD's came back to me in the mail.

Ladies, never ever take a chance...even if you think you know what you are doing. Always test the weight and size of anything wedding related you are mailing before sending. Because now many of my guests received envelopes that have that ugly 'Returned for extra postage stamp' on them! UGH! It wasn't the weight but the fact that the cards were square that gives the post office the right to charge me for TWO stamps instead of one...so silly.  SQUARE?  Seriously?  I mean, come on...what does the difference between square and rectangle have to do with anything?

The Save the Dates

Ok, so the fiance and I could not agree on which pics to put on our STD's and he didn't get the concept at first and then to top it off he doesn't like that I did them in our wedding colors (which he believes are too patriotic looking).  (sigh)  But I finally just got so frustrated that I gave him a couple options and said pick a picture and let's be done with this so I can print them!

He did, I did and they're done!

I am definitely NOT a crafty creative person when it comes to DIY projects...I am all about the computer.  My sister is the scrapbooker in the family.  So I gave her the concept, she designed the cards, I found a website for the card stock and envelopes and another web site that sells label sheets for computer printing and the entire STD's (100 of them) cost me $1.00 each for the finished product.  (I printed them at work - bad girl I know but we have a better/faster printer and if you knew about my job you'd understand). 

So this weekend I am gluing cards together and adding the little row of 3 stickers for the guests to put on their calendars and in their day planners and here is the final product - what do you think?  And yes, the 3 little circles in the middle are stickers for the guests to place on calendars, dayplanners, etc.  :)
