How our wedding is taking over my house!

I have boxes and boxes and boxes of stuff I've been purchasing for the last 9 months for our big day this April.  I started making my first purchases probably back a year before the wedding...guest book, photobooth props, pen holders, votive candles, picture frames, favors, favor boxes, ribbons, stationery items, favor tags, labels, toasting flutes, vases, flip flops, bridesmaid gifts, children's favors, kleenex packs, and on and on and on.

Needless to say, that's a lot of stuff to store in my little 1100 square foot two bedroom condo.  I mean, my house (it's actually my mom's condo that I rent from her) is totally the perfect 'big' size for me and my teenage daughter...I'm gonna miss it when we move in with Mr Fix It.  And me being me, I have storage places all over for sure.

But what was I supposed to do with these:

And these:

And these:

And then there's these:

Well, the boxes (votive candles & holders & picture frames) in the pic above are consuming space on my garage floor.  And then there's the few boxes in the very first picture that are sitting on the stairs leading up to the third floor (my daughter's room) out of guest's sight.  But the rest of those beauties?  The ones stacked pretty high?  Well, thankfully, we have a special little hidden storage space in the back of my daughter's closet.  Check it:

It's where the water heater sits, but they left a ton of extra space in it that I have been blessed to be able to use to store all things wedding for almost a year now!  And that pretty little flip flop basket I blogged about yesterday?  It now sits on the empty floor space you see in the front right of this picture!

But seriously...if I didn't have this space, where the heck would I be keeping all this stuff?  UGH!  I truly feel like our wedding has not only invaded my thoughts and time, but even my living space!  Good thing I can tuck 'most' of it away and out of sight for now.

What about all of you?  Have you made a bunch of early purchases that are consuming space in your life?  What are you doing to cope with it?

**  And P.S.  Did you see my little sneak peek at the surprise for our guests earlier this week?  check it out here

Lol, I feel you, girlfriend. Last night while getting ready for dinner Josh said "Ok...let's clear off the wedding stuff from this table before it starts taking over." Oy, not good. We have a really small apt with ZERO storage so the next few months are going to be really interesting.

Question: are you going to keep blogging after the wedding? Not meaning just recaps, but continuing to talk about married life, moving in w/ Mr. Fix It, etc? You're really a great writer :)

Yup....we're in the same boat over here. It's funny....I think when the wedding has come and gone, our house will feel so empty. haha

I just got engaged and already running into this problem... Luckily I live at home and we have an extra room, my parents had plans to turn it into a work out room after the first of the year, but I think now thats changed since there is already 100 pairs of flip flops in there, string, ribbon, etc!

Jenn - Flip flops! YEA!

Em - Yeah, I have thought about that..and I definitely want to keep blogging even after recaps which knowing me could be for months :) I hope to keep it up and of course I'll still be around following all of you lovely ladies who are getting married after me!

Ugh, I feel you. Except 1100 square feet seems like a spacious mansion in relation to my 800 square foot 1-bedroom apartment (pretty big for a 1-bedroom in SF). I have been taking some things to my mom's house, but she doesn't like a lot of clutter. Don't know what I'm going to do as the wedding gets closer!

Wow! You definitely have a lot of stuff, and I can absolutely relate, although in my case, it’s my parents’ home in California that has been overtaken by all of our wedding supplies and attire. I feel bad about having taken over much of their living space for the past year, but they’ve been happy to do it. I’m definitely lucky to have such an amazingly supportive family.

too funny! yes my "studio" has much become wedding stuff storage, as well as the basement, and my moms attic - though now that i think of it i think i should get it all in one place! At least your collections are all boxed up it could be much worse! now to start thinking of how you are going to transport it all!

Kristy - So true...I asked my coordinator about transporting all of this and she said I can bring it all to her studio the day (or week) before our wedding and her team will take care of getting it all to the venue on the wedding day. They will also pack everything up after the wedding and take it back to their studio where she told me I can leave it for a few weeks until we get back from our honeymoon! THAT is exactly why I hired her...so grateful!

I have been having the same problem! The wedding is May 1st. And I've been buying stuff since about February of last year! I still live at home with my mom and fortunately, she has plenty of space for me to store everything. But it's still been a challenge. Especially now that I'm needing to get back into some of the things I packed away and stacked so many boxes on top of so long ago! But the day is quickly approaching so I don't have to worry about it much longer!

This is what I am afraid of!!! We are using 1,001 origami cranes at the reception that we will be folding ourselves over the next few months. It helps to tie in my grandmother's heritage as well as time he spent in Japan. Only problem, I'm going to have tons of nightmares . . . I do not like birds!

That is definitely a lot to store! Glad you have somewhere to put it! We are lacking space in our small one bedroom apartment and the few boxes we have are sitting in plain site as there is no where else for the to go! I can't imagine what it will be like when I order more things!

Haha, our house is full of similar stacks of boxes! At one point we couldn't get into our living room because the pile had gotten so out of control!

I was just telling my friend the other day how the office has turned into a walk in closet because there is stuff everywhere! I can't believe how close it's coming! 71 days!!! My tasks are similar, I'm hoping we get our invites early next week so I can mail them asap. I'm excited & terrified at the same time, so much to do :-)

That hidden space is so great! We STILL have things from the wedding taking over our guest bed. It never ends!!!!!

our dining room was (and still is) filled with boxes, papers, and projects! when we would narrow things down, registry packages would arrive in the mail.
