Got the garter!

One of my favorite fun purchases:  the garter!  Now when most girls buy this little garment, they think blue...for their 'Something Blue' and then they end up getting a smaller, similar garter in a twin pack as their 'toss garter.'  But not me, everything needs to be different and unexpected.  Thus I was super excited when I found this crazy little feather and lace garter with a satin bow that I just died for.  And it was super affordable, too.  Found it online of course at Cinderella's Pumpkin.  Here is what it looks like in my color: RED!

And here is a larger picture of it in a different color:

And of course, I don't want my fiance to toss away this fun little beauty...I'll be pulling it out on future anniversary nights :)  So to mix it up a little and leave the lucky fellow who catches the garter with something funky and fun that he'll want to hang from his rear view mirror, I went with something in my wedding color scheme:  an aqua polka dot garter from Invitations by Dawn:

We'll have our coordinator slip the toss garter into my then husband's pocket just before we do the tosses.

So after he pulls my garter off, he can make the switcheroo.

Oh, and don't worry...I'll share my 'something blue' in a future post :)

So what do you think?  What are your ideas for your garter?  Share your pics...can't wait to see what everyone else has found!

Your toss garter is super-cute, and your regular one is lovely, too! I love that you found a cranberry one to go with your color scheme.

Mine also has a feaher on it, but in blue! I blogged about it here: http://perpetualpartyplanner.blogspot.com/2009/11/eschewing-wedding-traditions-part-three.html

I'm a new follower and I just love your blog. It's adorable! I'm getting married in July and I love finding other bride blogs. These are sooo cute. I love the red one.

Those are great picks, and I love that they’re not matching. I haven’t decided just what type of garter to go with yet, although I definitely want to surprise my husband with something unexpected and unique. I’ll keep you posted…

I know we're not going for a garter, but I still love pretty unexpected things. That red garter certainly fits the bill for pretty and unexpected!

These are both so cute! So your style as well and I love that. It's what this planning process is all about.

Here's a link to my garter, dress patch and something blue. I love them all! We're not doing a garter toss, I'm just wearing one throughout the day.

Stacey - feathers, I'm in love! I love the unexpected garters and am hurriedly deciding what to do for the Taiwanese wedding. Good plan to have the "keep" and the "toss" one.
