Seriously Saturdays: Do I need to put blinders on?

Ok, is anyone with me on this or am I just a nut job?  I bought my dress about 10 months before my big day.  It arrived within 2 1/2 months and I absolutely love it.  Afterall, it took me 2 months, 7 salons between Orange County and LA and at least 30-40 different gown try-ons before finding the *ONE*.  But now, whenever I see a gown posted on a blog, in a bridal magazine or on a tv show, I start to have buyer's remorse.  Seriously!  How is that possible?

Don't get me wrong...I love my gown for all the right reasons and family and friends all tell me it's gorgeous.  But with SO many bridal options, styles and new lines coming out constantly and a LOOONG engagement period, it is easy to see something else that has similar traits and yet a different look to it and for a brief moment wish that I could have a do-over.  :(

I don't seriously want to buy another gown - do I?  (sigh)

I still love my gown, no doubt...but I also love that gown, and this one and then there's that one.  What's a girl to do?  Does anyone else feel this way?  It's like I have to quickly turn the channel or turn my head if I open a blog post that has pictures of gowns in it for fear that I will want to sell mine and buy another!  I need to put blinders on - seriously!

I feel the same way!

I bought my dress in June after being engaged for 4 months & searching 3 different stores. I probably tried on at least 50 dresses! I picked mine out, got it in September I think & I have to wait until August to wear it!!

I can't afford another dress, though. So that just means I have to stick with what I have! :)

I haven't bought my gown yet, but I fear this will happen to me, too. I think you just need to remember that you picked your gown for the right reasons, and definitely did your research beforehand. You trusted your gut, and that means something.

i'm going through the same thing! i lucked out finding gown i loved right away and now i keep seeing gowns that i think i might like better or that are more what i THOUGHT i should go for - i have had to in fact put the blinders on (that and go visit my dress at my parents house regularly to remind myself that it is the right one for me) I also try to remember that what i thought i liked on the computer screen initially wasn't great for me when i tried it on so seeing a gorgeous model or bride in her beautiful gown doesn't have anything to do with how you look in your gown (or might look in her gown) I try to just tell myself it's already checked off the list - move on and carry on!

I've heard of this happening to brides, since I did not start shopping until 6 months till my wedding & just decided on a gown recently, I know I can't change my mind, there just is no time, most places tell you that it takes 4-5 months to get a gown, plus I worked so hard to find the right one that I know I did not leave any stone unturned. Although you bought your gown earlier, you still researched it a lot, tried on a lot & knew what you wanted, so you just have to trust yourself, know that you *did* pick the right one. Yes there may be some that you think are beautiful but they won't be everything that you want, the dress you picked was picked for a reason and it is the one for you :-)

I know a lot of girls feel that way. You're not alone. For some reason, I just adored my dress and I guess I kind of stopped looking after I found it. Just commit to your dress. You're going to look beautiful!

You know, I heard in one of those many bridal shows I watched the other day that once you purchased the gown you stop looking at any other gowns. Afterall, it's not like you can buy another gown and have it back in time for the wedding. Just thought this rationale might help!

I went to try on gowns once so far, and I already fell in love with two different ones (of the 5 I tried). I think you are never going to be 100% satisfied with your gown. I think it's the same with venues, wedding colors, and any of those once-in-a-lifetime things that you get to have at your wedding.

Im sure the dress you picked is the one for you if you loved it to begin with..

I also have a long engagement 1 1/2 years, so I'll start looking 6-8 months away from our wedding.

Send the blinders my way when you're done with them.

It's probably best to put the blinder on dear. However I was a few dresses bride (bought the ceremony one and ended up getting my dream dress and wearing for the reception).
What is it that bothers you? I had a dream fabric and ended up finding it on the ebay dress I bought last minute (the price of the fabric alencon lace was beyond my reach). I wore both dresses and didn't regret it for a minute. I'm not trying to enable you but trying to help you figure out what's bothersome and also advocating a reception dress if that helps.

OMG, i'm in the exact same predicament. I even posted my dress on a few sites to sell them but anytime someone shows interest, I back down. I mean when I put my dress on, I love the feeling it brings me but I can't help but think that other people including my FH will think it plain.
